Rosa Parks – Transit Equity Day – Thursday, February 4th
Riders can take Southeast Area Transit District buses for free on Thursday, February 4, 2021, as part of a
day intended to highlight the importance of public transit and honor Rosa Parks on her birthday. SEAT
buses will have postings commemorating Rosa Parks’ stance in 1955 when she refused to give up her
seat on a Montgomery, Alabama bus. Two buses will also display yellow carnations in her memory. By
making the buses free on Thursday, SEAT wants to encourage people to take advantage of public transit
who might not otherwise. This will be the third year the District will participate in the nationwide
Transit Equity Day.
